Once you have acquired your license for growing medical marijuana, you need to determine what type of cannabis sativa that you would like to begin growing. Herein lies a lot questions that need to be answered and you will have to choose the type that best suits your needs.

Should You Grow A Sativa Plant or An Indica Plant?

Usually the first question asked by growers, your choice depends on whether you would like to have a grow inside or outside, how much yield, and what type of potency of the cannibinol.

So let’s make a list to check off from:

  • Inside or Outside Growing Area – If you have a suitable space to grow inside your home, then you may consider an Indica type plant. Conversely, if you would prefer growing outside of your home you may prefer the Sativa strains. A good mix between the two is The Kush Strain.
  • High Yield Or Low – Sometimes a determining factor here is the time to full yield. For instance, A high yielding plant may take as much as twice as long as a quick flowering plant, but may have much more cannabis. Another case would be if you were growing for a community of patients, where you would much rather prefer a high yielding strain to satisgy the group’s need.
  • Desired Potency – The highest potency of some strains of medical marijuana may reach 30%, which would be alot for a regular person, or may be ideal for a person suffering from cancer pains, or multiple sclerosis. It’s important to ask your prescribing doctor the potency you should be getting.
  • Growing Time Allotment – The longer you have to wait for your plants to grow means the longer you have to endure your pain. It’s important to choose a fast growing strain, although it may go against your ideal yields. A good variety here would be an autoflowering strain, such as the Wappa strain.

You can see here that there are two distinct ways to go about growing the best type for your specific needs. Hopefully you can determine whether or not you would prefer a sativa or indica plant type.
